How to Write Nepali in Google Docs: Full Setup Guide 2025
Google Docs is increasingly popular in Nepal for collaborative writing, school assignments, and remote office work. But typing in Nepali Devanagari within a browser-based editor requires the right setup. Here are the most reliable methods.
Method 1: Google Input Tools Extension
Install the Google Input Tools Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. Once added, click the extension icon, select "Nepali" as the input language, and start typing phonetically in Google Docs. This is the easiest method for new Nepali typists.
Method 2: Copy-Paste from Converter
The most flexible method is to type your content in Preeti layout and then convert it using our free Preeti to Unicode Converter. Once the Unicode text appears in the output box, simply copy it and paste it directly into Google Docs. The text will render correctly in Devanagari without any plugin required.
Method 3: Windows/Mac IME
If you have the Nepali IME configured on your operating system, you can toggle to the Nepali input method and type directly in any web application including Google Docs, Gmail, or social media platforms.
